Below is an article written by Avani, reflecting on her experiences so far.
“CEO: Commitment, Energy, Openness”
When embarking on this experience, I found it almost impossible to keep track of everything that I was learning, everyone I was meeting and the new experiences I was having. I was keenly aware that this was a ‘once in a lifetime’ opportunity and I wanted to remember all of it. So, I started writing a diary to document and reflect on my experiences.
I am approaching the half-way point in my CEO for One Month journey, so it is a good time to share some of these reflections. Looking back through my diary, there are some frequently occurring themes: Commitment, Energy and Openness.
Everyone is so committed to the work they do with a keen focus on Creating Brighter Futures. I respect and admire this commitment as it is hugely important in this changing world. In the next two weeks, I hope to learn more about the Group’s progress in this area.
The energy of Alex and her leadership team is incredible! Observing this got me thinking, where does this energy come from? For Alex, it comes from working creatively with her fantastic team, and as Alex always says: ‘never be beaten, it’s hard to beat a person who never gives up!’ This energy inspires me, and I will try to keep up with it over the coming weeks!
Many people have been extremely generous with their time and open to my questions, which has been crucial to my learning. I will continue trying to pay this openness forward by documenting my experiences and sharing them on my vlogs.
This truly has been a CEO experience so far – an experience of Commitment, Energy and Openness. I am grateful for everything I have learnt and excited to see what else is to come.
